[10:32:42] <leon-anavi> morning

[15:03:36] <Krystian_> Hello, I'm strongly interested in A20-OLinuXino-MICRO-e4GB-IND, On Your webpage I found at the bottom notice that it’s evaluation board only for engineering or demonstration. Does anyone know is it really truth ? It's strange that industrial version is only evaluation board.
[15:05:57] <braunr> Krystian_: industrial version ?
[15:07:16] <Krystian_> yes, it's written in features: "Operating tempratire -45+85C for -IND boards"
[15:08:00] <braunr> that's just the temperature range
[15:09:06] <Krystian_> yes, but it's enought for me
[15:09:08] <braunr> they do specifically say that the board doesn't meet the requirements of directives about electromagnetic effects
[15:09:23] <braunr> if that's enough for you, you have your answer
[15:09:35] <braunr> as they say, you're responsible
[15:10:59] <Krystian_> you are right
[15:11:25] <Krystian_> thank You
[15:11:29] <braunr> sure thing
[15:12:02] <braunr> Krystian_: why the a20 instead of other olinuxino boards btw ?
[15:14:28] <Krystian_> it has many GPIO, I was not looking closer for other boards
[15:15:39] <Krystian_> could You recommend a board for industrial use ?
[15:15:41] <braunr> so you're looking for a linux capable board with many gpios ?
[15:15:54] <braunr> not really, we tend to do them ourselves :/
[15:16:01] <braunr> and i'm not a hardware person
[15:16:32] <braunr> but stick around, some people are are likely able to help you
[15:16:34] <Krystian_> ok, so last question
[15:17:29] <Krystian_> why Olimex is sharing all documentation for it's boards ? where is the business case ?
[15:17:44] <braunr> same as open source in general
[15:18:33] <braunr> it's especially easy with hardware i'd say
[15:18:34] <Krystian_> ok, thank You
[15:18:50] <braunr> the reason is that software may just be copied around
[15:18:55] <braunr> which is virtually free
[15:19:03] <braunr> but hardware must be bought, it can't be simply copied
[15:19:22] <braunr> so anyone, like me, who wants to play with such boards, will have to buy them anyway
[15:20:14] <braunr> getting fixes from your clients is also great
[15:20:37] <braunr> don't worry, there are ways to make money with open stuff
[15:22:59] <Krystian_> maybe on support
[15:23:22] <braunr> that would be for software mostly, yes
[15:23:31] <braunr> i don't think olimex provides much support
[15:25:25] <Krystian_> what about stability of ubuntu on olimex boards ?
[15:25:37] <Krystian_> I think only ubuntu is available
[15:26:15] <Krystian_> do You have any experience with unstability ?
[15:27:32] <braunr> i don't use these boards for anything else than development
[15:29:31] <Krystian_> thank you for your help, kind regard
[15:29:44] <braunr> good luck
